Why was that flower chosen??

The Little Flowers Girls’ Club was inspired by Rev. Francis X. Lasance’s book The Catholic Girls Guide. In his book, Rev. Frances Lasance gives takes nine virtues and gives a discourse explaining them and giving advice on how young women can apply them in their lives. He relates each virtue to a flower so as to create a “Maiden’s Crown” of flowers. For Wreath I, the flowers are taken directly from Fr. Lasance’s book. However, Fr. Lasance only wrote one Maiden Crown and so for Wreaths II and III Rachel Watkins chose each flower and virtue pair with a specific connection in mind. In Wreath IV all the flowers are associated with the country or area where each saint worked or lived. Below are the explanations for why each flower was chosen. These flower explanations can also be found on the individual pages for each lesson in the Bonus Materials for Girls section.
