Flower Meaning

The lily of the valley is a tiny, often unnoticed flower with a very sweet scent; being patient isn’t something that’s very noticeable but it fills a room with a sweet attitude of peace and joy. Legend also tells us that when Mary cried at Calvary lilies of the valley bloomed where her tears fell and we know that Our Lady is so patient with us in our sinfulness.

St. Bathildis, you gave up wealth and power for closeness to God. Teach us to use the things of earth only to gain heaven. God of Mercy, you inspired St. Bathildis with the love of poverty. By the help of her prayers may we follow Christ in poverty of spirit and come to the joyful vision of your glory in the kingdom of heaven. Amen.
