You ought therefore to be kindhearted, and this signifies nothing else than the fair rose of a real love of your neighbor should find a place in wreath of flowers that adorns your youthful brow.”

Hold your eyes on God and leave the doing to him. That is all the doing you have to worry about.

I’ve been seeing this really cool idea for making felt roses on Pinterest for while, so I decided to try it out as a Little Flowers craft. These headbands are simple and cute. You can add a bible verse of “St. Frances De Chantal, Pray for Us” on the ribbon with a fabric marker if you want extra flair. This is also a great activity to teach a girl how to sew, since it uses the most basic sewing stitch, which I learned when I was about 5 or 6.

    Here’s what you’ll need:

    Rose Headband craft supplies

    Plain headbands
    Ribbon
    Felt
    Scissors
    Glue
    Needle and thread
I suggest using something stronger than craft glue, like hot glue, but it depends on the age level of your group.

To begin, cut a length of ribbon the size of your headband. Then cover one side of the ribbon with glue.

Attach the ribbon to headband, and set aside to dry.

Now, to make the flower, cut out a strip of felt about 1 inch thick.

Then, using a simple rocking stitch, thread through one side of the felt.

Pull the thread tight while forming the felt into a spiral. You may have to work with it a bit to get it to the right shape.

The flower will look like this from the top:

Now, attach the flower to your headband, and let it dry completely.

    Time: 20 minutes
    Cost: about $1/headband
    Ages: 6+

Conclusion: It was really fun to do, and looks so elegant! Like I mentioned at the beginning, I would have used hot glue instead of craft glue if I had any on hand. The craft glue didn’t work well with the felt, and I had a problem keeping the flower on. Also, if I had fabric markers, I’d like to write the lesson’s bible verse on there as well. Overall, definitely recommended!
