Our Holy Father

The Holy Father is chosen by the Holy Spirit to lead the Catholic Church in the world. He is our Shepherd and we look to him to guide us closer to God. It is especially important to support the Holy Father with our prayers. In his weekly audiences, the Holy Father has been giving catechism on the family and let us join the Holy Father in his prayer for married couples and families that they may live holy lives.

QUOTE FROM THE HOLY FATHER

In our continuing catechesis on the family, today we consider the importance of togetherness. Sitting at table for the family dinner, sharing our meal and the experiences of our day, is a fundamental image of togetherness and solidarity. Because Jesus gave us the Eucharist as a meal, there is a close relationship between families and the Mass. The togetherness we experience in our families is meant, in the family of the Church, to extend to all as a sign of God’s universal love.

Pope Francis

General Audience, November 11, 2015

Our Holy Father is charged with the spiritual welfare of all Catholics and to guide the world closer to God. It is a huge responsibility and he needs all the support and prayers we can offer him. Let us join together in praying for our Holy Father and join him in the special monthly intentions he has chosen for the world.

Prayer for the holy father

God, the Shepherd and Ruler of all Your faithful people, mercifully look upon Your servant Pope Francis, whom You have chosen as the chief Shepherd to preside over Your Church. We beg You to help him lead us with his words and example that he may reach everlasting life together with us, the flock you entrusted to him. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
